There is no difference between using a film camera or digital camera in learning the basics of photography exposure and composition. Exposure is exposure, no matter how you're doing to capture the image. Negative film has more latitude a sensor or exposure slide film. It is in treatment because the media is very different for many people. With the film, or do in a dark room where you can make many adjustments, or sent to a laboratory where technology makes printing decisions. With digital, which uses its computer and software program of some kind (Adobe Photoshop, Corel, Gimp, Picnik, etc.) to make adjustments. Film usually printed if the film negative, or projected or viewed with a magnifying glass if the film slide. Often, digital images that do not leave the computer screen. Here's my favorite link for photographers beginners: There is a lot there about http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-path=38/13915&pq-locale=en_US digital, but the parties on the election of a theme and image composition are applied to any type of camera. Kodak used to have a book, "The 35mm Handbook" I think it was called that was a great guide to using 35 mm cameras. Exhausted, but you might find it used on Amazon. There are many books on basic and advanced photography. A good technique does not change just because is a digital camera rather than film. Enjoy your camera. Best wishes and happy shooting!
